Buick Becomes Exclusive Sponsor of "Desperate Housewives" Video Recaps on America Online
DETROIT – Continuing an ongoing relationship with the hit ABC-television series, Buick has signed on as the exclusive sponsor of weekly online recaps of “Desperate Housewives” that will air exclusively on the AOL service (AOL® Keyword: Desperate Housewives) and the AOL.com® Web site) and the AOL.com® Web site (tv.channel.aol.com/housewives). Buick commercials air directly before the show recaps on Monday mornings.
Each Monday following a new episode of the show, fans will be able to watch three- to four-minute recaps of the previous evening’s episode, as well as a preview of the upcoming week’s episode. Morning-after recaps will be offered through the show’s season finale, and they will be archived for viewing through Sept. 2005. Over the course of the season, fans will also be able to enjoy “Best Of” videos highlighting the season’s best moments.
Buick advertising has been part of Desperate Housewives since the show’s inception. In the show, one family drives a Rendezvous, and a LaCrosse was featured in an episode in which Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) had to return to modeling and found a job plying her talent for Buick in a shopping mall.
“Sponsoring the recaps on AOL is a great way to introduce the new Buicks to people who may not be thinking about Buick,” said Jill Cooley, Buick advertising manager. “ ‘Desperate Housewives’ is the most talked about show on television right now, and it’s a great place for Buick to be.”
