Buick Named Official Vehicle Of PGA Championship

DETROIT - Buick announced today that it has signed an agreement with the PGA of America to become the official vehicle of the 2005 PGA Championship.

As part of the agreement Buick will provide courtesy vehicles for the players at the 87th PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey, August 8-14, 2005.

"Buick is very excited to become the official vehicle of the 2005 PGA Championship, one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world," said Larry Peck, Buick's golf marketing manager. "This is a great opportunity for us to extend our relationship with the PGA of America, strengthen our commitment to golf and show our great new line-up including the all-new Buick LaCrosse."

"The PGA of America is proud to have its partnership with Buick extend to the PGA Championship, the season's final major and a meeting place of the world's premier golf professionals," said PGA of America President Roger Warren. "Just as the PGA Championship showcases the best in the world, Buick is presenting its best products to make Championship week a special experience."

The defending champion of the PGA Championship is Vijay Singh, the 2004 PGA Tour player of the year. Previous winners include: Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Payne Stewart, John Daly, David Love III and Tiger Woods.

The inaugural PGA Championship took place in 1916 at the Siwanoy Country Club in Bronxville, New York.

Woods, who has an endorsement agreement with Buick, was the first player to win the PGA Championship in back-to-back years (1999 and 2000) since Denny Shute in 1936-37.

Buick, the official car of the PGA Tour since 1984, is the title-sponsor of three PGA Tour events in 2005: The Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, Calif. (Jan. 17-23); the Buick Open at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich. (July 25-31); and the Buick Championship at the TPC at River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn. (Aug. 22-28). Buick has donated more than 30 million dollars to local charities through its PGA Tour events.

Buick has been the official car of the PGA of America since 2002, when it became the title-sponsor of the Buick Scramble, the world's largest amateur golf tournament with more than 75,000 participants annually.

The PGA of America is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the game of golf while continuing to enhance the standards of the profession. The Association is comprised of more than 28,000 men and women PGA Professionals who are dedicated to growing participation in the game of golf.
